Mohadevpur Dorpan, Quazi Sayeed Tito, Mohadevpur (Naogaon), 17 September 2024 :

A young man named Rabin Hossain (19) was arrested and handed over to the police by a mob when he beat up and threatened a Ringvan driver with a knife in a trivial incident in Mohadevpur of Naogaon.

He is the son of Abdus Salam of Uttargram Polipara village of Uttargram Union of the Upazila. The incident happened on Tuesday (September 17) around 6:00 pm on Mataji Road, near the busiest fish Mor of upazila Sadar.

Eyewitness Nahid Hossain, a shopkeeper of Safin Pharmacy on Mataji Road, said that while the three youths were standing on the south side of Mataji Road, a van passed them. At that time, when Rabin Hossain protested why the ring was taken so close to his body, a fight started with the ring driver. At one point Rabin punched him. Besides, he threw off his shirt and took out the knife kept in the waist of his pants and went to beat him.

Locals got angry at this incident and chased Rabin and managed to arrest him at Model School Mor. After informing the police station, Mahadevpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Hashmat Ali went to the spot and arrested Rabin and brought him to the police station.

The injured ring driver Feroz Hossain (30), son of Abul Kalam of Joanpur village of Sadar Union of the Upazila, has been given treatment at the Upazila Health Compensation.

The OC said that preparations are underway to file a case at the police station in this regard.
